A Good resume should be easy to read and present your story in a way that your key skills and competencies are easy to spot, in the first 10 seconds. Your resume should also generate interest to read further and go through the complete document. Your resume should not be a record keeping document, but should show the different dimensions of you, to the reader. The information which does not add value should not be presented. It is important to present numbers, which gives a handle to understand the size and volume of responsibilities you have handled. The main objective of your resume is to qualify you for the “first interview”
It is important for you to understand the difference between a CV and a Resume. A CV captures all of your experiences, chronologically and it is literally named “your story”. Whereas a “resume” captures the best of you and it is short, may be a page or 2 at the max. Your CV could run in to many pages, say 5 or more. In countries like USA, resume is used. In UK, CV is widely used. Many countries use a mix of both. Mostly for academic positions, you use a CV and for professional jobs, you use a resume.
